Four important things to do the day before your wedding

21st Nov 2023

After months of meticulous planning, it’s finally the eve of your wedding day. And with less than 24 hours to go before you tie the knot, you may be in a panic wondering if you've forgotten anything. From confirming with vendors to practising your vows, there’s bound to be a few final things you need to tick off your wedding checklist, but it’s important to also take some time to savour these moments.

To help you rest assured that your big day will be perfect, we’ve compiled a list of four important things for you to do the day before your wedding.

Final confirmations

Even if it’s just to put your mind at rest, check through all of your supplier and venue details one final time. Double check their confirmed arrival times, set ups and payment schedules are all in order – and then don’t look at them again.

Try to avoid the temptation to keep rechecking all of the details, trust your planner and your venue to take care of everything from here on out. Even if some tiny details do change on the day, as is quite common with all weddings, it is very unlikely to ruin or hinder the enjoyment of your celebration at all.

Say thank you

In the calm before the excitement ahead, take some time to reflect on your journey so far. To those who have helped you through your wedding planning process, now is the perfect time to thank them for their love, support and efforts.

Whether you chose to enjoy a string of phone calls, or send texts, or even write handwritten letters, thanking those who have made your wedding possible is a lovely thing to do before the chaos of the big day.

Write a love note

Whilst you’re feeling sentimental, why not write a love note to your future bride or groom? Traditionally, you won’t be sharing your last night as an unmarried couple together, so this presents a beautiful opportunity to write a heartfelt letter to them.

You could share your hopes and dreams for your future together, thank them for their continued love and devotion, and even remind them of funny moments from your dating years. Whilst you’re on the subject, take the time to practise your vows a few times to ensure they are cemented in your mind if you’re memorising them.

Relax

Once you’ve managed to convince yourself that yes, you do have everything in order, it’s time to take some ‘you’ time. Do whatever makes you feel best, be it a hot bath or a long walk, and then snuggle down for a good night’s sleep.

It can be helpful to turn off your phone to ensure you aren’t disturbed during the night, so you can awake refreshed and ready for the day ahead. Whilst it can be tempting to enjoy a few drinks on your last night of singledom, remember that feeling hungover on your wedding day is far less than ideal.

Have an amazing wedding day

When you’ve done all of the above, the only thing left to do is enjoy your wedding day. Feeling confident and rejuvenated, you’ll be sure to look and feel your best. And as you begin the start of a new chapter in your life, be sure to soak up as much of the day as you can without stress.
